Rick Berlin
Rick Berlin, songwriter, book writer, and a wonderful human being came to my log cabin in July. The planes hold Rick Berlin in as high regard as any individual that I have ever known.
He works five nights a week at a restaurant called Doyle’s in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. He is 74 years old and is still composing and occasionally performing. He is a prolific songwriter and has his own website. I was involved with him financially in a big way for 10 years. One high point in his career was performing at the Worcester Centrum as a warm-up band for J. Geils. You can buy the particular song “Hunger Strikes” on the web, and it was a step in the direction of recording the “Berlin Airlift” album at The Hit Factory in New York City with Stevie Nicks on the top floor and Yoko Ono on the bottom floor. The Hit Factory was right across from Studio 54. The crazy drummer Joe Pet for the band went to a corner convenience store next to Studio 54 and got us the best cocaine that I have ever done in my life. |
